Es Cubells – Cala Llentrisca

Es Cubells – Cala Llentrisca

Thanks to the special location of the village of Es Cubells, located on the edge of a spectacular cliff south of Sant Josep, this route will give us exceptional views where we can contemplate the sea, enjoy nature and discover beaches where there are no typical summer crowds. Although it is a medium-high difficulty route, you don't have to worry. It is a quiet route with some steep points but not long. Remember to be well prepared, don't forget sports shoes, comfortable clothes and water.

Difficulty: Medium - High
Distance: 9km
Estimated time: 4 hours (there and back).
Recommendations: Recommendation: Wear sports shoes, sports clothing and plenty of water, it is a route with few shady spots. It is not recommended for people who suffer from vertigo.

The walk starts in the square in front of the beautiful church of Es Cubells, which we will walk around to reach the viewpoint at the back of the church. It is time to take a panoramic view. The views are worth it. If you look a little further to your right you will find the monument dedicated to Francesc Palau, Pare Palau as he is remembered in Es Cubells, who in addition to thanking him for the construction of the church is remembered for spending long periods of time completely alone on the islet of Es Vedrà.

After our first stop to take photos and learn a little about the history of the village, we will start our route.
We will go down the left side of the viewpoint where we will find some stairs. Here we will find the Cueva de la Fuente. Follow the path until you reach the asphalted road and continue along the Vista Alegre housing estate until you reach Ses Boques beach. When you reach the turning to the beach, you can choose to go down the path to reach the beach or continue along the asphalted road and see it from above. If you do this route on a hot day, you will be grateful to cool off on the shore. If you want to know more about this charming cove, click here.

We will continue along the asphalted road, where we will continue to encounter marvellous views until we reach the small beach of Es Niu de S'Aguila, where we will be able to contemplate four rocks adorning its horizon. Legend has it that on the highest of the four rocks overhanging the shore of Es Niu de S'Àguila, a bird of prey built a nest, giving the cove its name. We continue on our way to the next wonder, Cala Llentrisca.

After seeing Es Niu de S'Àguila we will follow the path until we reach a fork in the road, here we will continue to the right until we reach a street (also on the right side) where we will see a "dead end street" sign. Take this street until you reach the last house, on your right you will find a dirt slope that ends in a small square, take the wooded path that you see in front of it. Now we will walk along the edge of the mountain for about 600m along a narrow path until we reach Cala Llentrisca. A very hidden cove surrounded by conifers where, without a doubt, it is worth resting and having a swim before continuing the route. More info about this beautiful cove here.

After a few baths and enjoying the tranquillity of this beach, we continue the route along a path that we find next to the path by which we have reached the beach. It is a bit steep, but don't worry, it will be worth it. As you can see on the map we have prepared for you, the end of this climb will be the path that leads to Cap Llentrisca. The views of the Mediterranean Sea are breathtaking, as well as one of the surprises of this route: the islet of Es Vedrà to our right. Time to take out our camera.
